Alaska Works helps women prepare and connect with high paying construction careers through apprenticeship.

Women are the answer!

There has been no time like the present for women to pursue careers in construction. There is a need for 1,000 new construction related workers in Alaska every year to keep up with project workloads and a retiring work force. With a Gas pipeline looming, the demand will only increase. The role of women is critical as the construction industry expands to meet the projects for now and the future.

Talented people are needed for these high wage careers. With the advent of technology in construction, construction careers are more accessible to women than ever before. Alaska Works Partnership – Women in the Trades can serve as a vital link for women looking for non traditional careers.

Women in the Trades program supports women – even those with little or no experience – by offering Construction Apprenticeship Preparation, Basic Trade Skills, Apprenticeship Outreach and Support Services.
